Occam’s Razor

“It is vain to do with more what can be done with fewer” – Aristotle

Occam’s Razor states that when confronted with a problem that has competing solutions the solution that makes least assumptions is probably correct.

Basically, the simplest solution is usually the right solution.

I have found this concept quite helpful over the years. Whether it is a decision made at home or in my company, the simplest, cleanest solution is usually the one that turns out to be the best choice.

Next time you are confronted with a problem and can’t decide which way to go, try applying Occam’s Razor and simplify your life.
